Steven Spielberg’s ‘West Side Story’ Gets A Release Date; To Premiere In March:Steven Spielberg’s upcoming hit West Side Story finally has a release date. After nabbing seven Academy Award nominations, West Side Story is prepping to amaze the audience worldwide.

The musical feature will premiere next month on different dates in several countries. The movie will make its grand broadcast on HBO MAx and Disney+.

Besides the film, a special titled ‘Something’s Coming: West Side Story – A Special Edition of 20/20’ is currently streaming on Disney+. Set in New York City in the 1950s, West Side Story is a tale of thrilling rivalries and passionate young love. The enmity between the Sharks and Jets will be tested when a young Tony (Ansel Elgort) falls in love with Maria (Rachel Zegler) at a high school dance event.

West Side Story also casts Ariana DeBose (Anita); David Alvarez (Bernardo); Mike Faist (Riff); Brian d’Arcy James (Officer Krupke); Corey Stoll (Lieutenant Schrank); Josh Andrés Rivera (Chino); and Rita Moreno (as Valentina).

West Side Story Release Date Is Out, To Premiere In March

Steven Spielberg’s renovated musical, West Side Story, will release on 2 March 2022. It will debut in the US and other international countries on the release date, as per the latest announcement from Disney+. Also, the film will premiere on HBO Max the same day.

Furthermore, the film will release in Taiwan on 9 March 2022; and in Japan on 30 March 2022. 

Spielberg directs the film with a screenplay by Tony Kushner (Munich, Lincoln). Rita Moreno, who stars in the movie, also serves as one of the film’s executive producers. She is one of three artists to receive an EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony) and a Peabody Award.

Justin Peck, director of New York City Ballet, has choreographed the musical numbers in the movie. Meanwhile, Matt Sullivan (“Beauty and the Beast,” “Chicago”) is the executive music producer of the film.

On Tuesday, West Side Story scored seven nominations at the Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Supporting Actress (Ariana DeBose).
